Fishing on Friday the 13th! We met Capt. Marie earlier than our scheduled time, and she was ready to take us fishing. We began the morning looking for salmon, and found a nice silver. We then went to some deeper water searching for halibut, and got one there too. On the way back, we trolled again for salmon, and got another really nice silver. Marie was very good, knew her stuff, and was quite personable. I would recommend both Oasis and Capt Marie.

Awesome fishing trip! Super fun and easy. Oasis Alaska was very organised and professional from the beginning to the end. I would recommend them to anyone wanting to go fishing in Ketchikan.I was a little concerned about doing an excursion that was not associated with the cruise we were on, but this was our favorite activity of our cruise trip! Oasis Alaska was waiting for us when we got off the ship (I received an email and text telling me he was there) in a big white van with the Oasis logo on the side. We arrived about 30 minutes early, and got right on the boat early. Captain Murray took us right to a spot and we were fishing within 20 minutes. We started catching fish right away and continued to catch a variety of fish throughout the entire trip. After we got back to the dock, the processing was also very easy. They got us back to the cruise ship with time to spare.

6 hr Halibut and Salmon Fishing trip Very good. wind and seas were rough that day but we caught 5 salmon, seen many eagles picking up fish, a deer came swimming by and went out of sight heading to another Island 15 miles away. I watched him with binoculars until he was out of sight. Seen seals, sea Lions and other assorted wildlife. Best thing though was the Captain dropped one of our fish in the water at the dock. We could see it about 20 feet down lying on the bottom. He felt bad and said that we worked too hard for that fish so he stripped down to his swim trunks ( we weren't sure about that at first!) then he dove into that cold water and retrieved it! BEST CAPTAIN EVER! We had fun.

Last Minute Charter- June 12 Excellent trip with Captain Murray. Caught our limit of halibut, rockfish, and lingcod.

Called when we got to Ketch and they had a 6 hour afternoon spot. It was a perfect time of day for us and it worked out great.

My only word of advice is if YOU'RE NOT staying at the Clover Pass Resort and YOU'RE NOT already booked through a cruise ship make arrangements to hire a taxi, or ride the bus when it's running with enough time to make your trip. We were NOT On a cruise ship so it took a little more coordination on our part to get out to Clover Pass resort on our end BUT nothing that would preclude us from booking again or hinder you from getting there.

Great Charter For The Family Went out for a 4 hour trip one day and a full day a couple days later on a recent trip to Ketchikan. Captain Murray was great. Fishing was slow, but he still managed to get us into fish both trips. He even gave us a little whale watching tour when he spotted some as we were just starting out. Would highly recommend booking a trip with Oasis. The whole family will enjoy a day out with Captain Murray

Private Fishing Charter My husband and I went out with Chris and had a great time. Everything from the booking process, communication before the trip, the fishing trip went smoothly. Our captain Chris was wonderful! We caught some halibut and rock fish and sent them home. They gave us the name of a local taxi company to call to pick us up from the pier and the cab driver came and picked us back up. All in all a wonderful experience. So much better than being cattle herded by the cruise line and on a fishing boat with 6 other people.

Not a very good experience! Oasis Fishing Charters Review – July 18, 2024 Reviews like this are not easy to write, it is not my intent to damage the reputation of a company or captain, but it is also necessary to let other potential customers know of our experience. Chartering a salmon fishing boat is often a once in a lifetime opportunity so choosing an outfitter is an important decision. We scheduled a 4 hour, private salmon fishing charter for 4 people in mid July. The communication with the company during the reservation process and leading up to the day of the charter was outstanding. They replied to emails quickly and always answered our questions. We also scheduled our transportation from the cruise ship dock to the charter boat through Oasis and that was a good experience. Mel was our shuttle driver, and he was pleasant and knowledgeable about the area. This was the best part of our day. He arrived at the cruise ship on time, delivered us to the boat, was waiting for us after the charter, and returned us to the cruise ship on time. When we arrived at the dock our charter captain took us to the boat. Our captain was pleasant and knowledgeable about fishing, but he wasn’t a good host or instructor. The captain did not have a deck hand and was responsible for all aspects of the charter. We were given no introduction or any type of instruction to make our day enjoyable. The boat was small for 4 people, both in the cabin and on the deck and we had to figure out where to stand and what to do on our own. We only had two rods in the water most of the time for four people but there wasn’t enough room on the boat for more than two active rods. I would like to think that there were life jackets on the boat for all of us, but we were never made aware of where they might have been stored. We were told that drinking water would be available on the charter and the captain helped himself to a bottle of water, but we were never offered any water. There was a box of snacks on the cabin table, but we were never offered any. The web site states that there is a bathroom on the boat, and we did see a toilet but we had no idea if we could use it or how to use it if needed. Our captain smoked on the boat and chewed tobacco as well. He was spitting off the side of the boat and he had a spit bottle he used in the cabin of the boat. He only smoked one cigarette but chewed tobacco throughout the trip. Our captain answered question when asked, but he didn’t really seem interested in providing a good experience for us. I think he just wanted to get the 4 hours over with. We did catch a few fish but had to quiz our captain on what kind of fish we were catching and how to identify the different species of salmon. He was quick at the end of the cruise to make sure he received payment! In my opinion, I would consider a different Salmon Charter.

Captain chris put us right on the fish! Spent all day on the water early in the season and found it all. Prizes for the day were a halibut and yellowtail snapper which we ate for dinner. Awesome to support local family owned business doing it the right way -DJ

Captain Hunter scored! we caught lots of salmon, did a little bit of halibut fishing but didn't catch any of those, but had a great time, and will highly recommend Oasis Charters to our friends.

Fun Fishing Trip Captain Murray was an outstanding fishing captain!!!! He was patient with us novice fisherman!!! 🙂 With his expertise we were able to catch 3 halibut, 5 cod, 1 small shark(had to through him back) and numerous bait fish(fun to catch). Would definitely recommend Oasis Alaska Charters!!! Also JoAnn was very helpful in answering our numerous questions! Thanks Captain Murray for a fun morning, the four hours flew by!!!

Great charter Murray was a great guide, he understood the water even though the Halibut were not biting we had plenty of action from other bottom fish.

A great decision! This was our first cruise and our first visit to Alaska, but not our first fishing charter so it didn’t take much convincing to book through a local charter versus through the cruise ship. Although we only caught a few fish, it was a great experience. Our captain, Thomas, was very nice and knowledgeable. He told us all about the history, geography, and wildlife of the area as well as his experiences. I am glad we booked with Oasis! I would definitely use them again.

Natural Born Predator We went out with Captain Chris on the Predator. I would absolutely recommend Oasis Alaska Charters and Chris!! Great time, Great Music, (Of course me and the fiance stopped on the way to the boat and grabbed a 12 pack along with the sandwiches we snuck off our cruise ship - Oasis told us where to go when we booked for the beer). Captain Chris was high energy and all about keeping positive vibes and celebrating every fish caught as if it was the first one!! We definitely decided to ship everything we caught home. It is alot LESS expensive than we thought it would be. Nothing better than eating what you catch, especially when it's Alaskan Salmon!! There are only specific charters that will accept 2 people, and this is one of them.

Amazing fishing trip We travelled to Ketchikan for the sole purpose of a once in a lifetime fishing trip. After a full day outing with captain Murray we were more than satisfied. After getting our limits of halibut right away, captain Murray went to work getting us giant lings and limits on black cod as well as salmon and many others. Scenery consisted of plenty of whales , otters and bald eagles. Amazing day!

Way more than just a fishing trip! I'll make this short so it's quick and easy to read. Oasis made our trip easy by answering all our questions about directions, fishing license, etc. Our boat captain, Mike, was friendly, incredibly knowledgeable and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable, safe and most important, (b/c fishing is the point of the trip), he made sure we got to catch fish. They warned us that June was the slower of the summer fishing months, but he genuinely wanted us to catch as much as possible and he changed course, he changed bait, if we were in a slow spot, he'd motor somewhere else. We ended up catching halibut, salmon, cod and a rockfish. We signed up for the halibut and salmon 6 hour trip. We were a group of 4 and only 1 of us had fishing experience. It was perfect and we will definitely go back next year.

not a good 4 hour day trip Although we caught fish, the boat is not set up to be tourist friendly, as the deck was so small there was no room for the captain to maneuver - and the gunnels were too high to rest your butt on, so we just stood around, always feeling like we were in the way. The fishing "system", with weights pulling the lures to the bottom on mechanical reels had so little interaction from us, that honestly we all thought the day was boring. 3 of the 5 of us own boats, so it wasn't that we didn't know anything. The captain, good at his job of fishing, was not great at being a "tour guide", so I think this company is probably great for the person staying in Ketchikan just to fish, but not the best for cruise passengers looking for a fun half day on the water.

Fantastic fishing experience!! We had a blast with Captain Murray! The shuttle picked us up at the ship and delivered us to the marina. We were on our way with Captain Murray pretty quickly. They bought us beer- per our request (we emailed them a few days before). We headed out in the boat for 4 hours of fishing. We caught two nice halibut and a bunch of other fish! Such a great day. Oh, and it poured rain almost the whole time. My husband's shirts were so wet he took them off. We still had so much fun. Thanks Oasis and Captain Murray. Great, great time! Highly recommend!!

The Best! We had a fabulous experience in Ketchikan! Lots of great memories were made with Oasis Alaska Charters. Planning this trip was just perfect because of the wonderful communication and willingness of Mark. We couldn't thank you enough for getting us the best fishing charter we could possibly have. Oasis Alaska Charters worked extra hard to get us a fishing charter since many of the charters were already booked. Oasis Alaska Charters found us the best. Connor was great! We caught fish! Lots of it! Connor knew exactly where to go and how to navigate to different fishing spots. We had a blast! We even ended early because we caught the limit we wanted. Connor helped us get the fish ready to cut up and shipped back to our home. Last night we had our first piece of salmon and it was absolutely amazing. Thanks for all the memories. We can't stop smiling from this amazing experience. Truly, this was our favorite part of Alaska. Connor, we by far were the best charter we could have asked for. Thank you!!!

Best trip ever we will be back. My trip was the most incredible fishing trip ever. Mike had me who just about had a full blown asthma attack after hauling him my halibut and another person who is pretty crippled up and he took great care of us. His main focus was fish and he got us into the fish even the day where the weather was pretty tough. But he also knew I had a passion for photography and gave me opportunities for great shots of porpoises, whales and the best eagle shots I have gotten in my life.

September Silvers are Fantastic! From my reservation to packing out the fish, Oasis Charters had excellent organisation, responsiveness and efficiency. We chartered two boats for 9 people to go after the September Silvers (Coho Salmon). The fishing was slow for about an hour, but after Capt. Murry found the fish he kept us ON the fish! Before it was all over we had each caught 2 fish in the 10-12 lbs. range. Really gotta hand it to Capt. Murry for finding the fish, helping us wrestle them into the cold box and maximizing our time on the water. Fish ON!

Ok fishing...but that’s fishing We went with Oasis Alaska Charters to fish for halibut. We caught a couple of small ones along with our limit of rockfish. My grandson snagged two skate fish...and I do mean snagged. He was on a jogging rod and snagged them both through their wing. We released them both. The most exciting part of the trip was watching an eagle swoop in an take a rockfish that we had released into its claws. I wish the fishing had been better but it was marginal. The captain mentioned that this was one of the worst King Salmon seasons on record or we might have switched to fishing for them instead. The fish we caught were donated to an old-folks home as we didn’t feel that we had enough to justify the shipping cost. Also the scenery was great.

Fantastic Fishing Experience - Book it! My husband and I booked a private charter for Halibut fishing but we actually did both Halibut and Salmon. We had such a great time, our Captain was experienced and did all the hard work while we just brought the fish in abundance. We were able to ship our fish home, which we will enjoy with family.

Family Salmon Fishing in Ketchikan The team at Oasis hosted a great fishing experience for our family. We had a range of ages from 11 to 80 and a mix of inexperienced and experienced anglers. Murray, our guide, handled our group professionally while being entertaining and best of all he tried hard to put us on as much fish as possible. Pickup and drop-off from the cruise terminal was easy. Definitely recommend a trip with Oasis.

What the Halibut?? We booked Oasis independently of our cruise ship while we were in port. Our son made all the arrangements for our family of five, grown sons and daughter in law, and everything went very smoothly. We went out with Captain Hunter and while he was still setting up the the second fishing pole, boom! Caught the first halibut! The hits just kept coming after that!! We had a great fishing experience with Captain Hunter, he was very knowledgeable! All in all we caught our limit in halibut, threw some back to finish growing and we also caught a few Pacific Cod. It was still early in the season, a rainy, cloudy cold day but we had a blast! Definitely book your fishing trip with Oasis when in Ketchikan!!

Amazing fishing excursion! This was a rescheduled family trip from 2020 for a group of 10. Half went salmon fishing with Drew, the others halibut fishing with Hunter. Right from the start, the staff at Oasis Alaska Charters was very responsive - they answered my emails in a timely fashion (usually within minutes!) The shuttle service from the cruise terminal was very convenient and reasonably priced - definitely recommended. Our fishing experience was amazing - looking forward to the arrival of our fish! We had a great time!

Another full day out with captain Murray. Last year we had a full day with captain Murray and we limited out on halibut,cod and sea bass as well as a bunch of salmon. This year was more of the same as we had six of us instead of four last year. Didn’t make a difference. We all limited out on the same fish and a lot of salmon. This guide is so busy baiting hooks , netting fish ,watching the fish finder,moving back on the fish after minutes of no bites. I just can’t imagine a better guide. He does the work of three people and when you get back you know where the money was spent and it was well worth it. The Best Fishing Experience Ever! We decided to book our fishing trip outside of the cruise because it was a little cheaper. Booking the trip was seamless and secure. Mark made sure to commuincate everthing I needed prior to the trip before I even had to ask him. Once we got to the dock we were directed to our fishing boat and met our captain. We had the best time ever! Caught some huge Salmon (25lbs, 19lbs, 12lbs.) Our Captain was knowledgable and very friendly. Worth every penny! Would do this again if we go to Alaska again:) I promise you will not be disappointed! I would have given this 100 star rating if possible.

Amazing Experience and LOTS of fish! Highly recommend this charter. Everything was taken care of and we had a wonderful time fishing. Our guide Drew was top notch and took us to all the good spots! We all loved Drew. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. Our two teen boys that love fishing (13 and 14) caught over 100 fish in 3 half days including King, pink, coho, chum and halibut. We even saw humpback whales! Their Grandfather came along for the ride and had a wonderful time on the boat. Amazing experience.

Ketchikan 2024 My nephews and I had two wonderful days fishing with Captain Hunter. He is friendly, fast, and knowledgeable. Day 1 we caught our limits of everything. Day 2 caught limits of halibut and rockfish. Kings were a little harder to find, but Hunter worked hard and we caught 2 and lost more. I'm looking forward to next year.

Awesome trip, well worth it! Our family booked a 4 hour charter while in port. Josh was our captain for the day and he was awesome! He had a great eye for seeing when we hooked a fish and knew when it was a good time to try a new spot. We caught 6-7 fish with 2 being large enough to keep (one was just barely a quarter inch under!). We had a great time and made it back to port with plenty of time to spare, we weren't worried about it at all. We loved it just being the 4 of us in our group with Josh and not having to share the boat with a giant/larger group. I only wish we had more time in port to keep fishing!

Great Captian and first mate awsome trip there was 3 of us on this trip and we fish a lot on the east coast for tuna, shark, cod, fluke and bass. we had a great time the captain was accommodating and knowledgeable. we caught Halibut, pacific cod and rock fish. the trip was only a 4 hr trip next time we will take a 8hr if the cruse line stayed longer we would have done it. was a little rushed but everyone made sure we made the boat.

King Salmon fishing me and my buddy went on a Salmon fishing trip for two. It was a great time the Capt. Murray was great. we fished 6 hrs. and caught some rock fish and some King Salmon. had to throw back some small ones but then I caught bubba 35lbs. was great and just as we were wrapping up my buddy caught a 20 pounder. we like that just 2 can go on boat for price what we paid for 4 on another charter. will definitely go back to this charter one of the best

Had A Great Time! My wife, daughter and myself booked a trip this last August with Oasis Alaska and had Murray as our Captain... we had a great trip... Being from the Puget Sound area I know the effects El Nino has had on the salmon... amongst other things. With that said, we had a great time visiting with Murray (very cool knowledgeable guy with some awesome experience on the water), enjoying the scenery, and yes catching some salmon! Heck, even if we had gotten skunked it would have been a great day... that's why they call it "fishing"... not "catching". You guys are awesome, we will be back! Highly reccommended!!!

Halibut Fishing Went halibut fishing in the end of May 2017.The weather was horrible, windy and raining.We ended catching halibut and came back early.The captain was great. The whole experience was great.He even offered to go for some salmon but one of our guest was sea sick.I will definitely go back

Great fishing We fished for 2 full days caught halibut and pinks and a couple silvers the first day and the second we caught 2 keeper kings and had to return 6 more they were not big enough. We caught rock fish and a load of pinks. Beautiful scenery great captain Chris we highly recommend Oasis fishing charters

Great job Booked a charter for myself and a friend. This was our first fishing trip to Alaska. Oasis seems to be the only one that will do a two person charter. Cost a little more but well worth it. Our captain Murray was great The weather was not the best but he tried putting us on the fish. Could only fish certain areas one day because of the weather but we did manage to catch fish, not as many as we would have liked but given the conditions not bad. If you want someone who will work their butt off trying to catch fish, book with Oasis and ask for Murray. If I get the chance to go back will fish with them againSidney from North Carolina

Good times Josh Anderson was our captain and he did a great job. Showed a lot of patience and did his best to help us catch fish. Did the 4 hour tour and probably should have booked the 6. Overall, great experience.

My best charter in Ketchikan Absolutely wonderful charter with oasis. We had captain Murray for two long range fishing trips, he was patient and funny and worked his ass off to get us on fish. I've used several different charters in prior years but oasis was a family affair and you felt it. Mark and JoAnn are wonderful people who will go out of their way to make sure you have a great time, DO NOT HESITATE TO BOOK WITH OASIS.

Great Salmon Fishing experience! My two sons and I had a great experience with Oasis Alaska Charters and captain Drew. It was a slow day but Drew worked constantly to help us find the fish. This was my boys (15 & 21) favorite excursion of our cruise and they had a blast! I would highly recommend the whole crew at Oasis Alaska Charters!

Halibut Galore We had an awesome fishing trip, catching our maximum number of Halibut allowed. Our captain, Murray was excellent and definitely made our excursion fun. I would highly recommend this fishing trip to you.

Fishing experience We went fishing with Oasis Charters on our day in Ketchikan during a cruise. I would highly recommend them! We caught lots of fish and the captain was great to fish with. 5 stars!

What a blast! Me and some buddies had the opportunity recently to take a day trip out with Oasis. Desmond and First Mate (and daughter Alexa) met us at the dock and in a short few minutes we had the paper work done and were off. Of course it was raining as it is SE Alaska in September but that did not deter from the fun of fishing that day. After only traveling out about 30 minutes Desmond sets up our poles and we're fishing. Doesn't take long at all and WHAM we are getting hits. First we pull in a nice Pink. A few minutes later after Desmond resets that bait and downriggers, two hits just seconds apart. Brought them both in! Nice Coho's. Although we did loose a few, the highlight of salmon fishing this day was having four poles in the water and having action on all four. We did manage to bring three on board! Salmon fishing was a blast but by late morning Desmond knew the salmon would stop biting and we headed a short distance and anchored 350 feet deep for halibut. WOW, never knew the action on bottom fishing! We only had a short amount of time to continue fishing but brought some cod on board as well as a 15 pound halibut. In total we hauled in 15 fish in a very short time. Dock crew were great also. Met us at the dock, hauled our fish to processing, filet them and shipped to my door when I returned. Very easy for vacationers.Hats off again to Skipper Desmond and Alexa! Great experience. You know your fishing and I can't wait to do it again!

Oasis Alaska Charters I was recently on an Alaskan Cruise and I had set-up in advance a charter for myself and 5 family memebers to go Salmon fiishing in Ketchikan. When I get to port on Friday August 18th the boat Captian leaves a message he is sick and cancels my trip!! I call around and Gary from Oasis Alaska Charters on short notice landed my a charter from his company. The captian, Logan was frioendly, knowledgable and very professional and patient on the trip. We caught 14 fish in 3 hours!! I highly recommend working with Oasis of you are oplanning to fish for Salmon or Halibut in Ketchikan.

Great Day!! We were very happy with 95% of our fishing adventure. The weather was perfection, the captain was great! The fish were not cooperating, but we thoroughly understand that is out of their hands. We caught 1 king that was too small to keep, and one beautiful Silver. There were no other bites, very disappointing for the money we paid. Because a previous charter did not want to keep their Pinks, they did offer us to keep them. We happily accepted that offer, and are awaiting our fish. We had a bonus of watching 10 whale breaches during our trip, so that was amazing!! we wouldn't hesitate to go with Oasis again.

Halibut Heaven!!! Fished two half day trips with Josh and caught a limit of halibut both days. What a blast. even did a little salmon trolling. Great guide and a nice person. Don't forget to tip 10-20%. Gas is expensive and the cost of living in AK is high.

Perfect family adventure Our family had a wonderful day in Ketchikan with Captain Murray! We have little fishing experience and just wanted a fun adventure. Captain Murray was so patient, helpful and excited for us, especially our 3 children, when we caught fish. Highly recommend! Thankful for these amazing memories!

Best Fishing Trip Ever I'm the President of Purple Heart Anglers a 501c3 non-profit. We take Disabled Veterans fishing and hunting. This was our 9th year with Oasis Alaska Charters, and we are already booked for 2023. The whole thing was excellent. From the beginning to the end. We had 12 people this year and plan on 12 for next year. The captains were knowledgeable, accommodating to our Disabled Veterans needs and made sure everybody had the "Trip of a Lifetime" we said it would be.
Cannot thank them all enough for a great fishing experience.

Awesome Alaskan Fishing Experience We were in Ketchikan with the Disney Cruise (had my 7 year old son with us) and instead of booking with them and getting random people on our boat I booked through Oasis and it was a great decision! We had the boat to ourselves and Capt. Tom was a great guide, we had salmon on the lines within the 1st ten minutes of our trip! Tom was very attentive and knowledgeable about the waters and local information! If you're in Ketchikan and want to get in some good fishing in with the family or friends I highly recommend Oasis Alaska Charters just take a look at the pics!!

Great fishing adventure What a great fishing trip. This was a trip with myself and 3 adult children. This is something we have been trying to plan for years. Captain Murray was absolutely amazing. Really was a trip of a lifetime.

The most fun you will have In Ketchikan! Oasis Alaska Charters and Captain Murray were phenomenal! Fantastic company, excellent fishing Captains, they know exactly what they’re doing! The communication is great and they make everything flow so smoothly, you can just enjoy the fishing! They really take great care of their guests, and put you right on the fish! They even tried their best to keep us on smooth waters, we were very happy with our experience and plan to fish again with them in the future!

Great 1/2 day charter From inquiring to booking to fishing, Oasis Alaska knocked it out of the park. Joann and Mark were easy to work with and the communication was top notch.
Hunter was our boat captain and he was knowledgeable and personable. He had us fishing immediately after launch. We saw whales and eagles on top of catching salmon. It was well worth the trip! You won't be disappointed

Great Trip We fished Captain Marie and Deckhand Megan's last charter of the summer. They were very professional, I think we caught more salmon than any boat I saw that morning. We had some first time fishermen and they were very patient and helpful. I would recommend this company to anyone interested.

What a day! What a great day! My wife and I went fishing with Capt. Drew and had one of the best days ever! Caught our limit in an hour and a half! Drew told me to be sure to tell people that it doesn't always work out that way haha. Mark picked us up from the boat on time and delivered us to the dock. I highly recommend Oasis Alaska Charters!

First Halibut! Went out fishing with Murray-he was fantastic-showed us and told us about fishing there and put us on the fish-there were boats around us but we caught the fish!

Job Well Done-Real Pro's. Everything was GREAT. Before we ever got off our ship (we were on a cruise) to take the charter, the communication was excellent. The trip from the port to their marina was about 20 minutes or so. The marina was very nice. It had a place to grab a quick bite, a bathroom and a nice shop. We were introduced to our captain, Capt. Drew. He was great. The boat was clean, safe and appeared dependable. The 1/2 day trip was fine as the fishing grounds weren't far away. They used Shimano and Penn Reels that appeared to be maintained properly. Their lures were clean and hooks were sharp. They didn't look to cut corners anywhere to save a few dollars. Capt. Drew was great, not only was he experienced and knew where the fish would be, but he was very knowledgeable about the surrounding land and area and at times acted like a tour guide. Yes, we caught fish; actually we limited out pretty quickly. I would highly recommend OASIS Alaska Charters...and this is coming from an Actual Charter Captain myself!
