It’s deer season in some parts of #Alaska, with many hunts open now, but closing Dec. 31. Make sure you know your deer. Sitka black-tailed deer (pictured on right) are the most common species of deer found in the state, but occasionally mule (pictured on left) and white-tailed deer show up, too. Educate yourself about deer identification on our species pages. Take a closer look before you pull the trigger.
